As the TWIN SEEDS project moves into its final phase, dissemination efforts continue to highlight the wide-ranging impacts of our research across Europe and beyond.
TWIN SEEDS featured on RFI (24 January 2025)
We were delighted to see our work on the circular economy featured by RFI - Radio France Internationale in a podcast for Brazilian audiences. Louise Curran (TBS) contributed to the episode, shedding light on the complex challenges of boosting circularity in the fashion sector. The discussion reflects TWIN SEEDS’ growing impact on the international conversation around sustainable value chains.
Advocating for the Green Deal in The Conversation (6 February 2025)
Louise Curran (TBS), Thibaut Joltreau (TBS), María Ángeles Cadarso, and Ángela García-Alaminos (Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha) published an article in The Conversation, urging the next European Commission to reinforce the Green Deal rather than retreat from it. Drawing on TWIN SEEDS research, they argue that reconfiguring global value chains (GVCs) to prioritise low-carbon and circular strategies is essential to achieving Europe’s climate targets, strengthening its industrial base, and enhancing resilience against geopolitical risks.
Collaboration visit to Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (17 February 2025)
Louise Curran and Thibaut Joltreau (TBS) travelled to Albacete for an insightful exchange with partners and students at the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM). The visit focused on sharing results related to EU sustainability policy and its implications for global value chains. It also served as an opportunity to coordinate on the final project deliverables and celebrate the close collaboration developed throughout WP4. The team greatly appreciated the exceptional welcome and support from Jorge Enrique Zafrilla Rodríguez, Ángela García Alaminos, María Ángeles Cadarso, María Ángeles Tobarra, and all UCLM colleagues involved.

New Publication on Technology Adoption and GVCs (19 March 2025)
Ferry Koster and Alissa van Zijl (Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam) have had their paper accepted for publication in Innovation and Management Review. They examined how participation in global value chains influences technology adoption, particularly the use of robotics in firms. Their work adds valuable insights into the relationship between innovation, employment, and international production networks.
Strategic Trade Retaliation in La Tribune (8 April 2025)
In a new article for La Tribune, Oliver Reiter, Michael Landesmann (wiiw), and Louise Curran (TBS) offer a strategic rethink on how the EU should respond to US trade protectionism. Rather than symbolic consumer goods, they recommend focusing retaliatory tariffs on intermediate goods with high economic leverage, such as chemicals and electronics, sectors where the EU can ramp up production while exerting real pressure.
✨ Stay tuned for more from TWIN SEEDS as we keep exploring the future of trade, sustainability, and industrial transformation!
