TWIN SEEDS Research: Two New Publications

2 minutes Read

We're happy to disseminate our latest research and spark meaningful dialogue around global value chains and climate policy. Here are two recent publications from our TWIN SEEDS team that explore how supply chain restructuring intersects with environmental and trade challenges.

  • Carbon Footprints and Value Chain Reconfiguration

Our Spanish team from Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) has published "Drivers of the Carbon Footprint Impact Resulting from the Reconfiguration of Global Value Chains" in Cuadernos Económicos de ICE. Ángela García-Alaminos, María-Ángeles Tobarra, and María-Ángeles Cadarso examine how supply chain restructuring affects carbon footprints, providing crucial insights for balancing economic competitiveness with climate goals.

  • EU Trade Policy and Climate Crisis

Louise Curran from Toulouse Business School (TBS) published "The impact of polycrisis on GPNs - a focus on the EU's trade policy response to the climate crisis" in the Journal of Economic Geography. Her research analyzes how the EU's new trade policy instruments, particularly CBAM and the EUDR, will impact global production networks facing climate challenges.

Both publications contribute to the conversations we'll continue at our final conference in Brussels on September 22, 2025.
