After three years of intensive research, the TWIN SEEDS project is ready to present its findings to the policy community. The global economy is undergoing fundamental transformation as supply chains are being rewired in response to pandemic disruptions, geopolitical tensions, and new industrial strategies. For Europe, this presents both opportunities and challenges around employment, sustainability, and regional equity.
Our final international conference 'Global value chains restructuring challenges: Towards a new normal trade policy scenario' will take place on Monday, 22 September 2025, in Brussels, co-organized with CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies). The event will bring together researchers and policymakers to discuss how Europe can navigate these changes without leaving anyone behind.
The conference will address four critical areas through real and practical conversations:
- Jobs: What are the effects of GVC restructuring on employment dynamics?
- Competitiveness: Can Europe achieve competitiveness through reshoring/restructuring?
- Environment: What would the impact of relaunching EU productive activities be on the environment?
- Solutions: What are the future scenarios of a new normal trade policy?
